Stock recommendations today

The markets got a lift from a round of strong economic data from the U.S., China and Europe, but Citigroup's weak quarterly earnings report pressured the banking sector, restraining the gains on the day.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 60 points, or 0.48%, to 12482, the S&P 500 jumped 4.6 points, or 0.36%, to 1294 and the Nasdaq Composite gained 17.4 points, or 0.64%, to 2728.
The Dow closed at its highest level since July on the day, while the Nasdaq had its best close since October. Both markets have rallied this year, with the Dow jumping 2.2% and the Nasdaq leaping 4.7% in less than a month.
