Indonesia's second largest cellular operator PT Indosat Tbk (ISAT), that is controlled by Qatar Telecom, today reported a 17.73% drop in operating profit last year as a result of higher operating expenses of 8.49%.
Indosat posted Rp2.83 trillion operating profit in 2011 from Rp3.44 trillion a year earlier, while operating expenses increased to Rp17.75 trillion from Rp16.36 trillion.
Operating sales of the operator inched up 3.99% to Rp20.58 trillion from Rp19.79 trillion. However, Indosat posted a 29.02% increase in net profit to Rp834.98 billion from Rp647.17 billion as the operator narrowed net other charges. Cash from operational activities increased to Rp7.32 trillion from Rp6.85 trillion.
